Take a break from the rush of things and unwind at this tranquil retreat. Secluded luxurious accommodations only a few minutes walk to the beach, a legendary restaurant and bar and multiple gorgeous trails, this is the best of what Mendocino has to offer. Ours is a grand country home on a couple acres; a place to spread out.
Good to know
Walk up the brick pathway to enter a spacious well-appointed kitchen with cozy breakfast nook. Step up into the lovingly decorated high-ceilinged Great Room. Family heirloom carpets, treasured eclectic art, huge south facing windows, and a gargantuan couch to fall into—this environment is designed for you to unwind. Gather around the large fireplace with games and books, both of which abound in the library. The bedrooms open onto different decks through private French doors and share a bathroom with separate access points. The primary bedroom has its own gas fireplace, writing desk, and cedar lined closet. Soft robes, slippers and plenty of extra blankets are provided. We provide organic coffee, tea and a few tasty food items in case you’re arriving late. Despite the main home feeling very private, the building includes an adjacent unit and office separated by walls, secure doors and some soundproofing. Note that sound can travel between the walls. Please pay particular attention to noise in the kitchen if you’re in there during quiet hours, as sound travels to the room above. The owners live and work on site and host other guests.
Other Details to Note
Though we love pets, we don’t allow them on this property. This is meant to be a peaceful retreat for you and the owners and neighbors who live here, so we ask that you minimize loud noise and honor quiet hours between 10am and 8am (or 11pm on Fri/Sat nights).

Accessibility and Availability
Neighborhood
Some natural gems are walkable from the house, including a huge sinkhole where waves roll in through a cave, Van Damme state beach with kayaking and firepits, and the Van Damme State Park with trails into the towering redwood forest. The Little River Inn has a bar with the best view around, excellent American cuisine, and golf and tennis for a small fee. A short four-minute drive takes you to stunning Mendocino Town--the preserved Victorian gem. Eight excellent restaurants are within a ten minute drive from the property, as well as multiple more modest cafes and sandwich places. An endless number of mind-boggling coastal views, beaches, forest walks, and other nature experiences can be found up and down the nearby coast.
Guest Access
You'll have your own kitchen, two dining areas, large family room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. You have a private back deck, but are welcome to enjoy the shared front deck and spacious front yard as well.
